Grimsby residential conveyancer retires after 50 years

A senior residential conveyancer will retire after 13 years at Bridge McFarland’s Grimsby office and nearly 50 years in the industry.

Steve Jackson, will officially retire December 23 to take up a life of voluntary work, important research into real ales and maybe even walking football.

He joined Bridge McFarland in 2003 having previously worked for John Barkers, where he started in 1968. He has handled residential conveyancing throughout, with some light commercial work and a brief spell dealing with wills and probate.

Steve identified changes to legal requirements and advances in technology as the main challenges during his career.

He said: “I have always had a large case workload and enjoyed being busy and meeting people every working day. I regard many of my clients as friends and I am still acting for the same clients and indeed their children and even grandchildren after all these years.

“I firmly believe I have been blessed in my career to work with so many lovely people. It is great to be able to share a laugh or a joke to help relieve the stress and to bounce problems off colleagues. I met my wife, many years ago, as a result of the job!”

Stephen Oldridge, Partner at Bridge McFarland Solicitors, said: “Steve has been an integral part of the conveyancing team at Bridge McFarland since he joined the firm in 2003 and is extremely well known and well liked in the local community.”
