New retail space nears completion in Lincoln city centre

New retail opportunities will soon become available on the East West Link Road in Lincoln following the completion of the £2.9 million Rose House.

The original building was demolished and rebuilt on the corner of High Street and Tentercroft Street as part of the construction of the new link road back in February, 2016.

Builders are now making the finishing touches to the four retail spaces before the building and is expected to be completed at the end of January. It will then be put up sale by Lincolnshire County Council.

It has also recently been shortlisted for the Lincolnshire Construction and Property Awards.

Rix Bathrooms will be moving back into the building after a temporary relocation further up the High Street while construction took place, however the other three retail spaces are still available.

When the East West Link Road was officially opened in November, it was announced that the development prospect of the area could see new hotels, restaurants and offices come to Lincoln’s city centre.

Paul Wheatley, Group Manager for Economic Development, said: “Rose House was built as a condition of the planning permission for the East West link Road and replaces similar properties with heritage status that unfortunately had to be removed in order to enable the new road to be built.

“Rose House is owned by Lincolnshire County Council and will shortly be put up for sale once finishing off works inside the buildings are completed.

“There has already been significant interest in the property from potential occupiers, including Rix Bathrooms, who previously occupied this location but relocated further down the High Street during the road improvements.”
