Lincoln-based Lindum Construction has won an international safety award for ongoing work at the One The Brayford development in the city centre.

Lindum is listed as one of the winners of the International Safety Awards for 2017, which are drawn from all sizes and sectors from countries ranging from Africa, Asia, India and the Middle East to the UK and mainland Europe.

The winners have been invited to receive their awards at the International Safety Awards Gala Dinner on Friday, May 5 at the London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.

The £20 million One The Brayford development, by Jackson & Jackson will see 89 luxury apartments and three restaurants on Brayford Wharf.

David Bellingham, Lindum Group Health & Safety Manager, said: “To be one of a small number of organisations in the world to have won this International Safety Award this year recognises the importance we place on health and safety best practice and demonstrates our on-going commitment and investment in safeguarding our employees, subcontractors, suppliers and the wider community in which we operate.”

Simon Gregory, MD of Lindum Construction, added: “The knowledge, experience and commitment of our construction team managing this complex project has been crucial in achieving this award.

“On a tight city centre site and a very busy location, the project involves adding two additional storeys to an existing 1970s five storey building, reconfiguring the elevations and interior and extending the structure on three sides.

“Safety has been our prime concern whilst managing the logistics, being considerate of the public and the neighbouring properties and managing the 60 workers on site using a variety of materials, equipment and machinery in use, including the 35 metre high tower crane.

“This award recognises the priority we place on safety and our continuing commitment to training and employee welfare and we are very proud to have been awarded it.”
