A free marketing toolkit has been launched for Lincoln businesses to help them make the most of a highly-anticipated summer attraction that’s heading to the city.
The toolkit features a range of flags and banners in PNG, JPG and EPS formats in tandem with the anniversary of two iconic events in Lincolnshire’s history. The Battle of Lincoln Fair and the Charter of the Forest.
The city officially unveiled its Knights’ Trail two weeks ago as part of anniversary celebrations, and the colourful characters have begun to appear in Lincoln’s streets and buisnesses.
The toolkit was put together by Joel Murray, digital marketing coordinator at Visit Lincoln, alongside the Lincoln based integrated marketing agency The Energy Cell.
Joel said: “This year marks the 800th anniversary of both the Battle of Lincoln Fair and Charter of the Forest, and Visit Lincoln is making the most of the opportunity to shine a spotlight on the city and surrounding area
“Just like the coordinated celebrations around Magna Carta in 2015, which resulted in a real spike in tourism figures, we’re working with our partners to promote activities in 2017 which give visitors a reason to come to Lincoln and beyond.
“The programme of events includes over 70 events, the much talked about Knights’ Trail, plus re-enactments and educational lectures. Other highlights include a major exhibition called Battles & Dynasties at The Collection featuring one of England’s greatest treasures Domesday Book on display at Lincoln Castle, along with Lincoln Cathedral’s new Heritage Skills Festival.
“We’re calling on businesses which share our aim to make Lincoln a top 10 UK destination, to make use of the toolkit to spread the word about Lincoln throughout 2017.
“Our priority is to work with significantly more businesses from a wide range of sectors to support and grow the local economy. If we want to be a top 10 destination we must unite, work together and share the tools needed to make our aspirations a reality”.
