Lincoln print agency wins six accolades at international awards

Lincoln-based design and print agency Ruddocks has won six awards for its work on the British Steel logo at the Transformation Awards Europe.

The firm won three gold, two silver and the overall Grand Prix Award for Excellence in Branding at the event in London on Thursday evening.

The Transform Awards Europe recognise best practice in corporate, product and global brand development work undertaken across the continent.

Having created and implemented the new brand for British Steel last year, Ruddocks, alongside British Steel and their website agency Moirae were shortlisted in five categories, plus two special awards selected from all winning entries: ‘Best use of visual property’ and the ‘Grand Prix’.

The award judges described the new British Steel brand as a ‘strong and compelling branding project’ with ‘excellent results, particularly in employee engagement.’

The awards saw Ruddocks compete against some of the UK’s leading design agencies with branding projects for the likes of St John Ambulance, Royal Ascot, Pizza Express, WWF-UK and ING Bank in their categories.

Ian Cant, Creative Director at Ruddocks, said: “To be shortlisted in every category we entered in was a real honour, but to win six awards was a little surprising to say the least especially considering the household brands and global agencies we were up against.

“The fact that we came away with the overall Grand Prix is a real testament to the hard work of everyone involved. This is a result the whole team should be proud of.”

Paul Banton, Managing Director at Ruddocks, added: “This is further proof that you don’t always need to go to a huge agency in London or a major city to get high quality creative work. Lincoln is full of excellent businesses who time and time again excel on the big stages, We are so proud that we have helped to continue this trend and long may it continue.”

The categories, which were each assessed by separate panels of industry experts, were:

  • Best visual identity in the industrial/basic materials sector – GOLD
  • Best implementation of a brand development project – GOLD
  • Best internal communications during a brand development project – GOLD
  • Best rebrand of a digital property – SILVER
  • Best brand evolution – SILVER
  • Overall Grand Prix – Winner
