Grimsby firm ACS&T Logistics has invested £1 million in a new vehicle fleet, including the latest generation tractors, trailers and tracking equipment.

Working with some of the leading names in chilled, frozen and ambient food production, the company has purchased five Volvo FH12 500 tractor units, and 13 Gray & Adams temperature-controlled trailers.

The Volvo FH500 141 tractor units – the first 500bhp to join the ACS&T fleet – are replacements for expired fleet, and will operate out of the company’s depot at Scarborough.

The units are fitted with Volvo Trucks’ Dynafleet fleet management system, which allows operators to pinpoint the exact location and status of each vehicle, as well as providing advice on how to improve profitability.

The £13.6 million trailers are fitted with the very latest 15.5 cubic ft tracked and controlled fridge units. They will be branded in customer livery and serve a factory in Scarborough.

ACS&T Managing Director Malcolm Johnstone said: “The investment underlines our commitment to quality and our dedication to providing flexible logistics solutions for our customers.

“Our investment underlines a drive to prove the highest quality of service while demonstrating a clear commitment to reducing CO2 emissions.”
