Gainsborough-based specialists in emissions reductions for heavy duty diesel vehicles Eminox has announced a joint venture with Chinese manufacturer Funwick Manufacturing Co. Ltd.

The news comes as Eminox is currently in the process of a recruitment drive to help with the continued growth of the business.

The company has taken on 14 new staff since January, 11 of which started in quarter three with more planned for 2018.

The new operation, Eminox China Ltd., will offer a range of exhaust and emission control solutions to be marketed by another brand, known as the Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) sector.

Eminox China will be based on the border of Shanghai and Suzhou in a 2,500m2 facility, which will utilise the technical expertise of Eminox’s UK operations, whilst starting to build its own team.

This will give it the ability to develop solutions to meet challenging requirements, utilising sophisticated design and simulation tools, combined with prototyping and validation.

The joint venture comes at a time when air pollution is a major environmental challenge in China, with rapid growth and increasing vehicle populations.

Mark Runciman, Senior Director at Eminox, said: “Our original equipment business is growing and we now supply to leading global OEMs.

“This joint venture expands Eminox’s capabilities beyond our UK operations, allowing us to meet expectations for an increasingly global supply base.”

Ronny Zhou, Chairman of Funwick Manufacturing Co., Ltd.: “Our joint venture with Eminox is an excellent strategic fit for both businesses.

It brings together our manufacturing expertise with Eminox’s proven technological leadership in exhaust after treatment systems. Being able to present advanced solutions to OEM customers will offer both businesses huge scope for growth.”
