British Steel is looking to recruit 50 apprentices at its site in Scunthorpe.

The roles will start in September 2018 and are a combination of mechanical, electrical and technical positions.

Candidates should have or be working towards five GCSEs in maths, English, science and two other subjects.

For A Level students, there are opportunities to join British Steel on engineering or technical degree apprenticeships, where they can avoid the cost of university education.

Candidates wanting to join the post-A Level scheme should have three A Levels (or equivalent) including maths and science at grade C or above.

British Steel Deputy CEO Paul Martin said: “Our apprenticeships offer people fantastic opportunities, with first-class training and excellent career prospects.

“Our Scunthorpe site has a distinguished history of taking on apprentices, with hundreds of our current employees joining us in this way. It’s imperative we keep investing in our people, and our future, and these opportunities reaffirm our commitment to building the next generation of steelworkers.

“The new apprentices will join a highly-skilled workforce and play a vital role in our effort to build a sustainable future for this business by ensuring we continue improving the products and services we offer our customers.”
