Plans to refurbish the Lincolnshire Poacher pub will go before councillors in Lincoln next week.

Marston’s Ltd wants to create a new pizza counter, install a seating booth and screen divider inside the popular pub on Bunkers Hill.

Outside, the company applied to paint the ground floor windows, entrance doors and surrounding areas.

City of Lincoln Council’s planning committee will consider the proposals at a meeting in Lincoln on Wednesday, February 28.

The proposed works require listed building consent.

Several residents on neighbouring Sympson Close have raised concerns about the increase in seating, which could increase noise, traffic, and demand on car parking spaces on the road.

Despite their concerns, councillors are recommended to grant approval for the works.

The development does not involve the proposed lodge-style hotel behind the pub.

City councillors rejected the plans for the hotel by a margin of seven to two at a meeting in March 2017, citing concerns about inadequate parking, unsafe highway access, and impact on residents living on Sympson Close.

However, the council’s decision was overturned by the government’s Planning Inspectorate in December 2017, meaning the development can move forward.
