Affordable Foods on Queensway in Gainsborough opened in October 2017 and sells food which has been rejected by mainstream chains.

The franchise sells everything from fruit and vegetables to household cleaning products, pet food and tea and coffee.

As well as serving the community with a range of low-price products, or store also holds community events and offers free space for activity groups.

Steve Ralf, Chairman of Eudaimonia, which operates Affordable Foods Gainsborough told Lincolnshire Business: “We opened in mid-October 2017 and trade has continued to grow month on month since then.

“We now have over 700 members.

“We help the community by offering affordable foods, but our business is about so much more.

“We have a free community space that any group can use, offer tea/coffee and a chat to those who need it, support craft groups, knitting groups, have a children’s book club, music groups, offer hot meals for £1.50 and much more.

“We are bringing the community together to support themselves.”
