Hidden Gems of Lincolnshire: Kinema in the Woods

This story is over

Kinema in the Woods is a 95-year-old cinema like no other in the county. Lincolnshire Business took a tour of the hidden gem of Lincolnshire.

The Kinema in the Woods on Coronation Road in Woodhall Spa, first opened on September 11, 1922, showing a Charlie Chaplin film at its launch.

For 95 years, the cinema has continued the thrive, with hundreds visiting the unique wooden cabin to see the latest films.

Admissions to the popular cinema have increased by over 75% in the last five years and the Kinema is reaching full capacity on a weekly basis.

Due to its growing popularity, owners have also proposed the construction of a 92-seater auditorium to provide a ‘much needed’ third screen for the existing cinema.

The original screen (screen 1) has a current overall capacity of 231 seats, which includes four wheelchair spaces and the second screen was added in 1994 to provide an additional 92-seater auditorium, with one space for a wheelchair.
