Partnership approach for businesses looking to hire graduates

This story is over

You may think that the University of Lincoln’s Careers & Employability Team are solely focused on providing guidance to their diverse student population… think again.

Employer Engagement and supporting local businesses is at the very heart of our vision to provide an employer led and informed service for their students. Working to support the University’s student’s transition into meaningful employment requires the team to work in close partnership with local, regional and national employers of all sizes and sectors.

Developing mutually complementary and innovative partnerships with employers has resulted in the team winning a prestigious national award for excellence in employer engagement over the last 12 months – So why not find out how partnering with our award winning team could support your business?

Fundamental to our approach is ensuring that it is driven by what the employer needs, and exploring bespoke and unique methods to meet those needs. Most of our interactions start with an employer who wants to recruit talent into their business and explore the value a student or graduate could bring. However, we offer more than just a vacancy handling service, and more than internship funding to help you recruit graduates; in effect we develop new ways of raising our employer partners profile at the University, ensuring that they are visible to our students and staff, whilst operating a quasi-consultancy service regarding graduate talent and what it can offer your business.

Gone are the days of standardised ‘menus of service’ or defined opportunities for businesses to engage with the University, what we now offer is something extra.

We are always introducing new initiatives which are fundamentally led by our employers’ requirements. We appreciate that not all businesses have the time or capacity to spend hours or days visiting our campus to engage ‘face to face’ with our students, so we have taken an approach that offers employers flexible engagement opportunities through  ‘remote’ or ‘physical engagement’. Physical engagement can be anything from exhibiting at our annual Careers Fair, to delivering a workshop offering insight into your organisation, sector and opportunities, or offering a ‘business challenge’ in which you task our students to solve a real problem you may be facing in your business. Remote engagement can include an employer profile on our website, advertising your vacancies with us, or hosting a live chat discussion online with our students. The options are truly endless as we constantly look to develop new ways to engage our employer partners and effectively bridge the gap between students and the ‘real world’.

We are truly committed to diversifying our student perceptions of the opportunities available to them and to promoting the opportunities that are right here on their doorstep, thereby supporting the local economy. Fundamental to the fulfilment of this aspiration is ensuring that we give you, the businesses, and the platform to both explore the talent we have here, and raise your profile across our student and staff population. As a central service which is connected across all departments and Schools at the University, we are your gateway into exploring the value that partnering with the University can bring to your business and organisation.
