Lincoln architects win Civil Engineering Project of the Year 2018

Lincoln-based John Roberts Architects has been presented with Civil Engineering Project of the Year 2018 at the East Midlands Celebrating Construction awards for their project – the Lincoln Transport Hub.

The ceremony was held at The Belfry in Nottingham on Friday, May 11.

The Hub has transformed Lincoln city centre and provides a new bus station, 1,000 space multi-storey car park, retail space, pedestrian plaza and improvements to the rail station forecourt.

John Roberts Architects’ team was led by Lincoln-born architect Paul Ponwaye.

He said: “It is a great achievement to have won such a prestigious award.

“We have been really pleased with the response to such a major project in the city.

“This was a team effort with the City of Lincoln Council and Willmott Dixon Construction and involved several local companies including Lincoln Co-op, Banks Long and Co, Thornton Firkin and Globe Consultants Limited.

“The entire project is testament to the huge benefits that can be had through adopting a collaborative approach with early involvement of the contractor and design team.”
