Lincoln entrepreneurs launch new sun protection brand especially for cyclists

This story is over

Lincoln entrepreneurs Tom Austen and James Vickers have launched a new sun protection brand which has been designed specifically for cyclists as ‘once a day’ sun protection.

Pelotan is a high-performance sun protection designed to help cyclists cultivate ultra-sharp tan lines without the risk of burning.

The flagship product is an alcohol based spray which is clear, quickly absorbed, lightweight and breathable and has been developed.

The idea for the product was born in 2017 from the founders’ personal need to undertake long training rides in the sun without the reapplication of messy and non-breathable suntan cream.

Working alongside professional teams and cosmetic experts, the formula has been subject to a testing and refinement process. It has been laboratory tested as lasting up to 8 hours at SPF 30.

Pelotan has now launched via a dedicated ecommerce website and is also running a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo to help fund new product development and to launch internationally after the end of the European season.

The product will also be available in the Rouleur Emporium.

Tom Austen, Director at Pelotan said: “Riding in the sun is one of the greatest joys of cycling, but also presents challenges if you’re unprepared.

“We set out to create sun protection specifically for cyclists because legs should only burn on the inside, not the outside!

“We are launching across Europe in Summer 2018 and believe riders of all abilities can perform better if they avoid sunburn – from the pro peloton to the casual club rider. Pelotan is designed to give cyclists maximum comfort whilst riding and help craft those all-important tan lines.”
