The future of Lincoln’s Mothercare store is in doubt after the announcement of a rescue deal which will see 50 of the retailer’s UK stores close.
A Company Voluntary Agreement (CVA) has been drawn up, which will see 50 of its 137 UK stores close – resulting in around 800 job losses.
Mothercare plans to have 78 outlets in the UK by 2020, with a further five stores expected to close by 2022.
Mothercare currently has stores in Lincoln, Nottingham and Sheffield.
As part of the published rescue plans 21 of its stores will remain open, however will pay rent at a reduced rate.
At the time of writing, it is not yet known which stores will close.
