Green light for Norton Bottoms Quarry extension

This story is over

Planning for the extension of Norton Bottoms Quarry in Stapleford has been given the green light by Lincolnshire County Council.

The plans, submitted by Breedon Southern, were approved following a planning and regulation committee meeting on June 30.

Work on a four-phase extension will now begin, which will enable it to provide more than seven million tonnes of sand and gravel from a 78 hectare area over the next 14 years.

Norton Bottoms Quarry was established in the 1980s and has been extended considerably over the years.

A restoration scheme to enhance the green infrastructure has also been approved.

This will create new habitats, waterways and public access to the local area.

The plans are expected to secure 37 employees’ jobs directly and 20 indirectly.
