A new week-long campaign to promote the Bailgate and area of Uphill Lincoln has been launched this week.

Members of the city’s Bailgate Guild are pulling out all the stops to encourage shoppers and tourists to #EnjoyUphillLincoln.

Businesses in Bailgate, Steep Hill and The Strait are taking a lead in dispelling retail sector blues and are tempting people with around 60 discounts and other incentives during the rest of this week, right through until July 8.

Visit Lincoln and Lincoln BIG are supporting this initiative and attractions including Lincoln Castle, the Medieval Bishops’ Palace and Lincoln Guided Tours are also involved.

Alongside this campaign, a video has been created which captures the true essence of the area, including a range of independent businesses in the Bailgate.

Focusing on seven elements: Eat, Drink, Shop, Explore, Escape, Share and Return, the video, produced by Jacob White for CityX, shows visitors exactly what the area has to offer.

The City of Lincoln Council is also supporting Enjoy Uphill Lincoln by offering drivers (who pay by phone or app) a 25% discount at its car parks in Westgate, St Paul’s Lane and The Lawn.

Joel Murray, Digital Marketing Coordinator at Visit Lincoln told CityX: “As part of Visit Lincoln’s support of the Bailgate Guild and the Enjoy Uphill Lincoln campaign we commissioned CityX to produce a video to showcase the best of what the area has to offer.

“Video marketing is a key strategy for us to promote Lincoln as a great place to visit, live, work, and study in, and we hope that local businesses and residents will like this video and want to share it online!

“Enjoy Uphill Lincoln” is a great example of how local businesses are working together, in partnership with the local Destination Management Organisation Visit Lincoln, to help promote the area.”
