One year on: Business is booming at the Lincoln Cornhill Quarter

It’s hard to believe that the first set of businesses which opened following the redevelopment of the Cornhill Quarter have now been in Lincoln for almost a year – but they have and business seems to be booming!

Ursula Lidbetter, CEO of Lincolnshire Co-op, told CityX: “It is great to see how The Cornhill Quarter project has evolved over the past year since Moss Bros. and Flying Tiger Copenhagen opened, which have both been hugely successful in bringing a new offer to Lincoln.

“We are continuing to realise our vision for The Cornhill Quarter which will enhance Lincoln city centre, through restoring and re-imagining this area, with a dramatic new public square at its heart.

“We are looking forward to sharing more exciting milestones for the redevelopment of The Cornhill Quarter in the near future.”

Flying Tiger Copenhagen

Flying Tiger Copenhagen opening in the former Lincoln Corn Exchange on Sunday, October 15, 2017, bringing an ever-changing range of affordable products for kitchens, bedrooms and playrooms.

In the one-way street store, customers can tour the range of items including homewear, toys, hobby, party, snacks, electronics, gadgets and fashion accessories.

Jon Edwards, Flying Tiger Copenhagen said: “It’s been a great start, we are delighted with the store’s performance so far and extremely pleased that Flying Tiger has been part of breathing new life into this historic building.”

Menswear specialist Moss Bros., which is located in the Corn Exchange building as part of the Cornhill Quarter development, opened on Thursday, October 5, 2017.

Moss Bros. was the first tenant in the revamped Corn Exchange and continues to sell a wide range of menswear items.

What’s next for the Cornhill Quarter?

Designs for the new Everyman Cinema in the Cornhill Quarter.

Ursula Lidbetter, CEO of Lincolnshire Co-op, continued: “Since the completion of Corn Exchange building in October 2017, work has been underway on phase two of the scheme.

“Phase two of the redevelopment will deliver 23,000 sq ft of retail space along Sincil Street, as well as a bright, attractive walkway through to the multi-storey car park.

“Construction on this phase progressing well with timings on track for completion before Christmas 2018.

“Everyman Cinema will open a four screen cinema in phase three of the development, which recently received planning permission.

“This will be located opposite the Corn Exchange building. We’re looking forward to welcoming many more brands for phase two and three of the scheme, which we hope to announce soon.”
