Work to build a complex of new homes for people aged 55 and over has begun in a village near Lincoln.

Lindum Construction is building 50 bungalows and ten flats on land off Church Lane in Saxilby, on behalf of Gainsborough-based housing provider Acis.

The start of construction work was marked with an official turning of the turf ceremony at the site on Tuesday, July 31.

The complex will include 20 homes for private sale, 20 for sale on a shared ownership basis and 20 for affordable rent.

The first properties are expected to be ready at the start of 2019.

In addition to the 60 homes for over 55s, residential housing division Lindum Homes will also be building a selection of properties.

Greg Bacon, Acis Chief Executive, said: “We’re delighted to be extending our footprint in Saxilby by bringing more affordable homes to the village.

“We understand people have different needs so are committed to providing a range of different tenure options, including our popular shared ownership model.”

MD of Lindum Construction, Simon Gregory, added: “As a local building company, which has a local workforce, we are delighted to be part of a development that is bringing much-needed, good quality homes to the thriving village of Saxilby.”
