Plans for new £300m Lincolnshire energy centre

Proposals for a new energy centre on land at EP South Humber Bank power station have been unveiled.

Named the EP South Humber Bank Energy Centre, the new centre would be powered by Refuse Derived Fuel and would create 50 new jobs in the Stallingborough area.

EP UK Investments (EPUKI) bought the power station from Centrica in 2017 and recently completed a £53 million programme to improve its efficiency – securing more than 70 jobs.

Now, plans are being put together for the new £300 million centre, which are expected to be submitted to North East Lincolnshire Council later this year.

These new plans will not affect the existing power station on site.

James Crankshaw, Head of Engineering for EPUKI said: “The UK’s power generation mix is changing and there is a need for new power generation and energy recovery facilities.

“The Energy Centre proposals are designed to meet these needs and also create permanent local jobs. We look forward to receiving the community’s views on our proposals through the project website or in person at our consultation events in September”.
