Plans to transform a former working men’s club in Lincoln into shops and apartments have been approved.

Proposals, submitted by Paul Lynch, will see the former working men’s club at 241 – 247 Monks Road, converted into four retail units and 10 apartments.

The building is currently vacant, however it was most recently in use as the Monks Road Working Men’s Club, which closed suddenly last year.

Conversion of building will form four A1 (retail) and A2 (financial and professional services) units and 10 apartments, including external alterations and associated works.

The proposal will require some external alterations. The commercial units will front onto Monks Road.

The rear of the ground floor will accommodate three apartments, while seven apartments will be located at the first floor level.

In total, there will be eight one-bedroom apartments and two two-bedroom apartments.

The majority of the changes will be to the south elevation which forms the rear elevation of the site. The existing lift shaft will be removed and the window openings will be changed to reflect the internal layout of the property.

To the north elevation, the property will see changes to the ground floor to create the shop/unit fronts.
