Fashion retailer Next has revealed a boost in sales in the first quarter of 2019.
Next has said full price sales in the 13 weeks to Saturday, April 27 were up 4.5% on last year.
This was a 1.3% increase ahead of its internal forecast of a 3.2% boost for the first quarter and equated to £10 million of sales in the first quarter.
A spokesperson for Next said: “We believe this over performance versus forecast was mainly as a result of unusually warm weather over the Easter holiday period, which was particularly helpful to our retail stores.
“The over performance in the first quarter amounted to sales of around £10 million.
“Given this is a relatively small number in the context of annual sales, we believe it is too early to revise our full year sales and profit guidance.”
