Plans for the expansion of Soper of Lincoln BMW’s site in South Hyekham have been submitted to North Kesteven District Council.
The proposal, submitted by Andrew Tullie, would see the demolition of two buildings and the extension of the existing Soper Select building, currently used as a used car showroom and workshop.
The extension would provide increased display space and additional facilities including offices for the Soper Select used car showroom, as well as a workshop for SMART (Small, Medium Area Repair Technology).
If approved, the SMART repair workshop will serve the used car showroom and the adjacent Soper BMW MINI dealership.
Currently, Soper of Lincoln BMW employs 99 full time and 10 part time staff, however following approval it is believed this will rise to 104 full time and 11 part time employees.
A spokesperson said in the application: “There is currently planning approval for a SMART repair workshop, however I n the current application, the new extension fills in the previously canopied but otherwise unused space between Soper Select and the extension as shown in the recent approval.
“This offers an improved facility which caters to the current needs of the business and also offers flexibility for future uses should the building ever be sold by the current owner.
“The proposed extension and the existing Soper Select building will form a cohesive and well balanced structure, improving the streetscape on Newark Road.”
