Fast growing Lincoln-based personal safety tech startup Tended has announced the appointment of a new senior member to join its executive board.
Seb Chakraborty, global CTO of Hive, will join Tended this month following the company’s recent £1.15 million investment from Blackfinch Ventures and Innovate UK.
Chakraborty has been appointed by Blackfinch Ventures as its Investor Director on the Tended board, with the aim of continuing to support the company’s growth and the strategic decision-making within the executive team.
With extensive experience in the tech industry, Chakraborty was part of the founding team behind one of the UK’s most successful IOT start-ups, Centrica Connected Home (Hive). Prior to that, Chakraborty was the CTO of Digital UK where he acted in a technical leadership role, helping Telefonica UK (O2) businesses with their technology scaling and integration challenges.
Leo Scott Smith, Founder and CEO of Tended, said: “It’s really exciting to have someone with such a remarkable track record join our executive team.
“The experience and knowhow Seb will bring will be invaluable in helping us scale the business successfully.”
Innovating the personal safety sector through the use of AI and wearable technology, this move will enable Tended to add further expertise to its senior team with a particular focus on technical long-term vision. It comes as Tended begins to increase focus on the development of its commercial solution and starts pilots with industry leaders.
Reuben Wilcock, Ventures Director at Blackfinch commented: “We are excited to appoint Seb as our Investor Director on the Tended board as his background, experience and skills are a perfect fit for Leo’s team. At Blackfinch we believe strongly in supporting our investee companies through value-add NED hires and Seb is a great example of this.”
Seb Chakraborty added: “I am thrilled to join Leo and the executive team at Tended.
“It’s great to be a part of a company with a strong vision to revolutionise personal safety through technology.”
As well as welcoming Chakraborty to the board this week, Tended also added a new business development manager and a QA tester to further support its growth and development.
