New technology at Lincoln’s Lucy Tower Street Car Park is set to make parking in the city centre faster and easier for everyone.

The council has invested £64,000 into the upgrade of all its pay and display machines at Lucy Tower Street to allow for faster payments, along with a more reliable connection to ensure that card payments are available at all times.

The new machines also have a contactless option to allow for even faster payments.

Rod Williamson, Team Leader City Services said: “We are aware that until now, card payments at Lucy Tower have been affected by unreliability, and this new system makes these issues a thing of the past.

“The council will be investing more into parking later this summer, when all machines at the Broadgate Car Park will be replaced with this new efficient system.

“This will mean that, along with Lincoln Central, all three council-owned multi-storey car parks will offer faster more reliable payments.

“We continue to reinvest income from parking into improving parking services for our customers.”

Lucy Tower Car Park, and many other of the council’s car parks also allow for PayByPhone online payment, making parking even easier.

This can be found on the Apple App Store or Google Play by searching for ‘PayByPhone”.
