Lincoln entrepreneur launches new business to disrupt heating service industry

A Lincoln-born entrepreneur has launched a new heating service provider to disrupt the industry and compete with larger organisations.

Glow Heating Services was launched at the beginning of August by Jack McGovern and aims to be the go-to business in Lincolnshire for boiler repair, service and installation.

Jack has over 10 years’ experience in the heating industry, with five of those spent in a managerial capacity at a leading services provider. He decided on the venture after seeing a gap in the market.

Jack told CityX: “My vision is for Glow to be the number one heating services provider in Lincolnshire with the best customer service with the best marketing and branding. I have created all processes within my business digitally.

“So once I have proved the concept and built a strong reputation I will have the ability to scale effectively and efficiently.

“I want to have the fastest response time within the industry by getting to customers who are in need within 24 hours every time.

“This will be done through the implementation of effective technology. There are lots fantastic engineers out there but my experiences at British Gas have shown to me that even the larger organisations (which you wouldn’t expect) have weaknesses and inconsistencies which leads to poor service.

“I’m in a position to scale on a more local level and I have less barriers to deal with when wanting to implement quick wins which can improve customer service.

“I plan to compete with the bigger organisations by being competitive on price with bespoke maintenance plans which have more benefits and by not letting customers down.

“I have spent 6 years at British Gas and the conversations we used to have were always about how technology limited the businesses capacity to serve effectively and that investment was required. Technology can be central to my operation and it is already and its only been 4 months!

“I have gained great experience in my time and operationally I feel I am very astute. I’m still aligned with the values of British Gas, its a brilliant place to work and its centred around looking after its people and customers. My own core values and Glow’s values will be no different we will put customers and employees first with the main difference being operationally we will have the systems to always deliver well whilst being easy to deal with.”
