Plans for a new children’s role play centre in the city have been approved by the City of Lincoln Council.

Submitted by Keri Watters, ‘Fun Town’ will be situated at Lincoln Trade Centre, Unit 1, Dixon Close.

Fun Town will be a role play ‘town’ centre for young children to explore their imaginations and act out roles they see in their every day lives with parents and carers, eg. fire officer, police officer, shop worker, doctor/nurse, hairdresser etc.

There will also be a seating/café area serving drinks and snacks and eight car parking spaces.

Previously, the building was used as a kitchen and bathroom showroom, which has now closed.

The new role play centre will include one party room, eight play rooms, a play area, baby sensory area and cafe.

This new venture will create two full-time and 12 part-time jobs in the area.

Within the application, a spokesperson said: “[Within the building] there are already some facilities which we will take advantage of, such as a small kitchen area and two toilets.

“There are also some partition walls already erected which we will use and expand on slightly, with the use of false walls to create the individual ‘shops’ for the children to play in.

“There will also be an open area in the centre which will serve as a pretend ‘picnic park’ area and ‘road’.

“We will add in a counter which will be the reception and café counter where drinks and snacks will be served from.

“A small fence (3ft tall) will separate the café/seating area and the play area.

“The previous business is now closed and was a Premier kitchens and bathrooms showroom.”
