Five minutes with… John Creasey – PP Motor Group, Lincoln

This story is over

With the festive period being a time to reflect and look back on the year, we took five minutes out of the busy schedule to speak to John Creasey, owner of PP Motor Group, to find out more about his business, how 2019 has been and his plans for 2020:

John, tell us a bit about PP Motor Group…

“PP Motor Group is essentially a main dealer alternative, run independently offering every service a motorist would require all from one site based in the heart of Lincoln.

“Made up of four main departments, service, bodyshop, wheel repair and vehicle sales. adding to that in 2020 we plan to install a brand new MOT & ADAS Calibration centre.

“We very much pride ourselves on producing the highest quality of work and customer service at all times and I am still a big believer that you are only as good as your last job.

“I have an amazing team around me that all go by the same ethos. Often in our industry when a Client requires our service it’s a “stress purchase” we are at all times mindful of this so work hard to make sure the experience is seamless and stress free as possible. People chose PP not just because it’s convenient but because it’s simple and easy to use.”

What changes have you seen in 2019?

“Having moved to our current site on Clayton Road, Lincoln some 15 years ago, which was then “PaintPerfect”, the business has gone through some huge changes mainly in the last four years having grown from a small independent bodyshop to an full independent dealership.

“This year we have added an additional workshop which is currently being refurbished into our new MOT/ ADAS centre plus a full refurbishment of our compound tuning that into addition parking for staff and customers, secure vehicle storage and our new vehicle sales area, all the hard work on those particular projects this year means in 2020 we are capable of yet further growth.”

How has the business changed over the years?

“Having been in the motor trade since I was 16, I have seen many changes.

“The biggest changes that stand out for me is the amount of resource it takes to do the job properly now compared to 20 years ago, it was fairly easy to set up a garage business with little regulations around H&S, HR, insurances, waste disposal etc.

“In the current day, to run a company in the motor trade you have to be dedicated to all the regulation and laws, this is something I believe will build even more momentum as time goes on and we as a company welcome the changes as ultimately it means if you invest in this correctly the job is done correct and safely.

“The company’s that do invest I believe will be the ones that prosper.”

What has been your proudest moment in 2019?

“Looking back on 2019 I would say I am most proud of the team around me and how they believe in my  “perfectionist approach at all times” mindset, something I know can be hard to deliver all the time in business but they all work by that ever single day and it’s a pleasure to see that happen.

“This kind of attitude and determination for staff can sometimes be hard to find but at present we have an amazing balance.”

What does 2020 hold for PP Motor Group?

“2020 will be all about harnessing what we currently have, it’s important we never loose site of that but also building on it, we want PP Motor Group to be the go to place in Lincolnshire because we are very good at what we do and we are able to offer that next level service which is very rarely found in the motor trade.”
