Lincolnshire is set to see the upcoming launch of brand new Lincolnshire Wolds Outdoor Festival in 2021.
The Lincolnshire Wolds Outdoor Festival is aimed at encouraging people to take part in a variety of leisure activities, whilst showcasing the outstanding landscape of the Lincolnshire Wolds.
As the spiritual successor to the Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival (LWWF) which celebrated its 15th anniversary last year, the Outdoor Festival aims to provide an event which is active and diverse.
As well as working with local business groups and activity providers, the festival is being developed collaboratively by a steering group of organisations, all of whom were involved in running the LWWF, including: The Ramblers, Lincolnshire Wolds Countryside Service, British Mountaineering Council, Heritage Lincolnshire, Lincolnshire County Council and East and West Lindsey District Councils.
Leading the work to co-ordinate the design and delivery of the Outdoor Festival, is Jane Robertson.
Jane said: “I’m delighted to be working on the Outdoor Festival.
“I look forward to working with local businesses and organisations to develop a fantastic and unique festival that gets people out and about in the Lincolnshire Wolds.”
Chair of the Outdoor Festival steering group, Geoffrey Newmarch, added: “I’d like to thank everyone who has worked with us on the Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival over the past 15 years – the Festival simply wouldn’t have happened without the dedicated work of our volunteers.
“Whilst we won’t be hosting an event in 2020, I’m very excited about the prospect of the Outdoor Festival and look forward to seeing it take shape over the coming months.”
An engagement event will take place in the spring, where local organisations and businesses will be able to learn more about the festival and discover how they can get involved.
Councillor Adam Grist, East Lindsey District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Market Towns and Rural Economy, said: “The Lincolnshire Wolds provide a stunning setting for this exciting festival and I’m pleased we’ll be playing an important role in helping shape what it looks like.
“I’d encourage all our businesses to keep an eye out for more news in the future and to support the festival and help us and our partners to showcase our wonderful area.”
