Jenny Smith of Jenny’s Jams has recently won a Gold award after entering in this year’s 2020 Original Marmalade Awards.

Jenny’s Thick Cut Orange and Ginger Marmalade has taken the prize this year, however the ceremony at Dalemain Mansion in Cumbria was cancelled due to concerns about Corona Virus.

Jenny last won Gold at the Dalemain Mansion awards in 2019, with her Pink Grapefruit and Cranberry Marmalade.

Jenny works out of a professional kitchen in commercial premises off Exchange Road in Lincoln, keeping busy with the increasing demand of her her 24 jams, marmalades and chutneys.

Jenny said: “I am really thrilled to have won a Gold Award in the competition’s artisan category for my Thick Cut Orange and Ginger Marmalade, but it is disappointing that the festival weekend had to be cancelled.

“I decided to enter the Thick Cut Orange and Ginger variety because people keep saying how nice it is and it also proved to be very popular over the Christmas period.

“I shall be taking jars along for my stall at the Lincoln Farmers’ Market on March 22 and to Brigg Market on March 29.”

In the past, Jenny has partnered with Coastal Distillery in Mablethorpe, adding their gin to two marmalades, two jams and her piccalilli.

Jenny’s jams and marmalades are also a winner with The British Hamper Company and they feature in several of their treats, including the firm’s Lincolnshire Hampers.

Managing Director of The British Hamper Company, James Tod said: “We’re delighted to hear Jenny has won Gold in this prestigious fine food awards competition.

“Jenny’s marmalades are some of the very best we’ve tasted and this latest and much-deserved award goes to show she’s a true artisan of her craft.”

Jenny also supplies her chutney to the award-winning Lincolnshire cheesemaker Cote Hill Cheese, which is based in Osgodby, near Market Rasen, and which the Davenport family sell in their mini farm shop.

Director  of Cote Hill Cheese, Mary Davenport said: “We have used Jenny’s excellent chutney in our gift hampers for a number of years because it complements our cheeses so well.

“We are delighted she is now getting recognition from a wider customer base.

“Her jams are a new addition to our mini farm shop and are flying off the shelf, we look forward to stocking her marmalade!”
