Lincoln gym shares fitness tips during lockdown

Focusing on fitness is a great way of taking your mind off the Coronavirus pandemic and getting through the next few months.

That’s the message from Lincoln gym, Energie Fitness Lincoln City owner Lee Kilby, who is helping people in the city remain fit and healthy with a series of free-to-access videos that he’s sharing via a Facebook group that’s free to join.

Lee says: “With the news and every conversation being dominated by what is turning out to be an unprecedented pandemic that none of us thought we’d ever see, I wanted to offer people something that would take their minds off it for even just an hour in the day.

“If people can’t get outside to get active, now they have the option of getting up off the couch.”

“It’s vital to stay fit and active while gyms are closed and social isolation is in effect, so we wanted to make sure that everyone we can reach knows to keep fit. Exercise isn’t just vital for physical health, but mental health too. These videos, which we’re adding to every day, will mean people have a variety of workouts to get stuck into at home or in the garden and not get bored!”

Lee has already set the Facebook group up, entitled ‘Energie Fitness Lincoln Online’ and plans to record some light-hearted videos with his son Nathan, 4, over the next week to make sure families can take part too.

Lee added: “It’s not all about pushing yourself, exercise also needs to be fun! I hope that this offers people an outlet when they might be feeling cooped up inside.

“If there was a time to look on the bright side, it’s now. My hope is that we can make people smile and reduce some stress.  Even if we manage it for just a few moments, we’ve done our job!”
