Multinational Scottish brewery, BrewDog, and American-inspired restaurant chain, Red’s True Barbecue, will be coming to Lincoln in a joint business venture and will move into a space in the Old Constitutional Club on Silver Street.
Marketing agents of the Old Constitutional Club, Fleurets, confirmed that the two will be occupying the ground floor of the £2.5m grade II listed building, however it is not yet known when they will open.
Since 2014, the building has seen at least four unsuccessful business attempts from predecessors such as the German-themed Brewhaus, the nightclub Circle, and Tiago Lincoln Brazilian restaurant.
The two are already in operation together at their Leicester site, and the partnership describe how they do business: “BrewDog handle the brew, Red’s serve the ‘cue. A match made in beer and barbecue heaven.”
Restaurant chain, Red’s True Barbecue, was founded in 2012 with the intention of bringing American barbecue foods and flavours to consumers, and was later bought out of administration in 2019 by Aaron Mellor of Tokyo Industries, safeguarding 235 jobs.
This will be the sixth Red’s True Barbecue restaurant to open, with already operating sites in Leeds, Leicester, Manchester, Nottingham and Fallowfield.
Founded in 2007, BrewDog serves a various range of ales and lagers, and the company and its franchisees operate at least 78 bars worldwide, and there are hopes of further expasion after Co Founder James Watt recently announced a number of new bars under construction on social media.
James said: “Feels like a crazy time to be expanding, but we have the following bars under construction: New Dog Tap Ellon, Shanghai, Huddersfield, Headingley, Lincoln, Bradford, Mumbai, Wiesbaden, & Plymouth with a few other deals close too.”
BrewDog have recently released the world’s strongest beer at 57.8% ABV, and sell a range of products which have led the company to winning a number of various awards.
