Lincoln’s Collection Museum delivers creative projects throughout lockdown

The team at Lincoln’s Collection Museum have been recently working to deliver a variety of creative projects for the local community throughout this lockdown.

Creative packs for families and the elderly, weekly creative sessions for young adults, collections going digital and homeschooling help are just some of the ways the Collection Museum has been helping the community recently.

Working with local partners, including Lincoln Food bank, Lincolnshire County Council’s Day Opportunities team, EDAN Lincs and local artist Nadya Monfrinoli, the team at the collection has been extra creative this lockdown.

Jenny Gleadell, exhibitions officer at the Collection, explains:

“Thanks to funding from the Arts Council, we’ve been able to deliver over 200 free creative kits to families and the elderly residents across Lincolnshire via the foodbank networks.

“These have really helped boost creativity and mental wellbeing.

“This year we’re joining up with local artist duo, ‘Making Up Your Street’, to design more fresh and exciting kits.

“By teaming up with EDAN Lincs and local artist Nadya Monfrinoli, we’ve been able to deliver over 100 bespoke creative projects for families and individuals – helping to rebuild confidence and forge new connections during this difficult time.”

“We’ve also been running our ‘Creative Collective’ virtually for young people, so they can meet new people, boost their wellbeing, get experience in the arts and get involved in creative projects.

Will, who joined the Creative Collective in September, said: “I joined the group so I could get involved with a local network of artists and creatives in order to expand my horizons and meet likeminded individuals.

“Its been brilliant – even during lockdown! I look forward to it every week.”

Jenny added: “Our Investigate Learning team has also launched our #homeschoolhelp resources, covering dinosaurs and fossils, ancient Egyptians and Vikings amongst others – helping to keep children entertained, whilst learning about history in a fun and engaging way.”
