Green light for £56M Sleaford Moor Enterprise Park

This story is over

A £56 million eco-conscious enterprise park, which is set to boost North Kesteven’s local economy, has received the go-ahead to be built.

Sleaford Moor Enterprise Park is a 37-acre business development being brought forward by North Kesteven District Council, and has been given the green light this week by planners, meaning infrastructure work could start as soon as autumn this year following a tender process.

A first phase will follow with subsequent build of units taking place through to 2027.

It will unlock new business opportunities and bring up to 500 jobs for the local area through the creation of up to 37,245 m2 of floor space for new and expanding businesses.

Its design also acts as a potential blueprint for eco-conscious development in future, by demonstrating how features such as walkways around attenuation ponds, tree planting and wildflower verges can create an environment with both scope for wildlife and better wellbeing for employees.

It follows a hybrid planning application submitted in November last year which sought full permission for the construction of site-wide infrastructure and outline permission for the units.

The scheme recently reached another major milestone, with the appointment of commercial property agents Banks Long & Co to manage enquiries and secure businesses for the units.

Leader of North Kesteven District Council Councillor Richard Wright said: “We’re incredibly excited to begin moving our Sleaford Moor Enterprise Park scheme forward from vision into reality, with a tender process and infrastructure work next in line to take place.

“Our total investment will be in the region of £56 million, an unquestionable declaration of confidence in North Kesteven as the place to live and work in Lincolnshire.

“It also demonstrates our ongoing commitment to our communities and businesses which already call North Kesteven their home.”

“It’s particularly exciting because we’ve worked hard on ensuring Sleaford Moor Enterprise Park sets the bar for responding to climate change in such developments.

“There’s a focus on tree planting, landscaping, wildflower verges, native planting and sustainable drainage systems onsite, alongside carbon-cutting measures incorporated within the design of its future buildings, such as electric vehicle charging points, solar panels and air source heat pumps.

“It all supports our aim for North Kesteven to become carbon neutral by 2030.”

“All these measures also provide a positive environment for employee wellbeing, which we know is an equally important requirement for businesses.

“Already we’ve received significant interest, and working with our agent Banks Long & Co, I’m looking forward to securing businesses for the site and sharing more positive news on its development.”

Commercial property agents Banks Long & Co won the competitive tender to become the sole agents for Sleaford Moor Enterprise Park and are working closely with North Kesteven District Council and its BusinessNK team to secure tenants for the development.

The units will be available for leasehold and have a range of uses, mainly light and general industrial, warehouse and distribution with ancillary office space and potential for trade showroom use.

Banks Long & Co Director William Wall said: “It’s great to be working with North Kesteven District Council to deliver such a high quality business park that will generate new jobs for Sleaford and set the standard for employment developments across the region.

“Business owners seem genuinely enthused about the vision for the park, especially the range of sustainability proposals.”

Sleaford Moor Enterprise Park is an extension to the already established industrial area in the north east of Sleaford, creating potential for local supply chains, innovation and collaboration along with new opportunity.

It benefits from the strategic east to west access the A17 gives across Lincolnshire and its connections with the A1 and east coast ports.

It’s also easily accessible by bus, cycle and on foot.

Amenities in Sleaford are within walking distance, plus planned pedestrian access to new-build housing nearby and the adjoining Sleaford Moor woodland for increased wellbeing.
