LincolnX Featured: SUMS – By students’ unions for students’ unions

This story is over

LincolnX Featured takes a look at our LincolnX members, profiling their firm and highlighting key developments within their business.

This week’s LincolnX member is SUMS (Students’ Union Management System Ltd), a Lincoln based company which has developed a data-focussed customer relationship management system, used by Students’ Union’s nationally.

SUMS supports unions using the platform to digitally enhance their services, by providing tools to facilitate digital solutions to previously physical only activities, including feedback, volunteering, elections, sports, societies and much more.

The unique single-system nature of SUMS enables unions to capture data about their members at any touchpoint with their services; and report on this data to allow unions to get to know their membership.

Intelligent use of this data has enabled unions across the country to better support their members, and increase engagement with their services.

Managing Director, James Brooks, said: “Students’ Union Management System Ltd. is a dynamic company, and has delivered a number of developments in response to Covid-19.

“These include a Track and Trace system for Students’ Unions to ensure the safety of members; a virtual fayres platform to help students explore opportunities and expand the digital advertising offering for unions; and a brand new app ‘Student Orders’.

“Student Orders (a food and beverages delivery, collection and table service app) has enabled venues both in unions nationally, and in the city of Lincoln to continue to trade during the pandemic.”

SUMS has recently developed a delivery service branch to enable venues to have their offerings delivered to their customers by a local Student Orders Delivery Team, at cheap prices.

SUMS is also developing a new SU App, to enable students national and internationally to stay connected to their union.

James continued: “SUMS aims to partner with unions across the world, to take best practice from these unions and share it with the UK.

“It is also working to continually enhance the platform, and associated apps to better be able to support its customers.

“Data will always be at the heart of SUMS, and SUMS aims to ever-grow its data capabilities to enable unions to offer increasingly better support and services.”
